A Nação Hebraica

A Nação, The Nation, was the name used by Portuguese Jewish communities in the Early Modern period. Taking our inspiration from this, A Nação Hebraica undertakes scholarly research into the history and genealogy of the communities that make up the Western Sephardic diaspora in the Atlantic world.

Our aim is to identify and make available original source documents, materials and research, and to publish these in databases or physical publications, in order to inform and educate a worldwide public.

This collection begins with a transcription of the earliest Annual Accounts of the Spanish & Portuguese Jews’ Congregation in London for 5436-5438 (1676-1678). Transcriptions for other years and documents will be added as they are completed.
